Life Is Beautiful
(20 December 2006)

"1978", "1978", I heard my prison number being repeated in the hallway. I was thinking, finally I was going to get out from this cell after three decade of being locked up in the cell for the crime of murder. In the beginning I was sentenced for life, but I was pardoned for good behavior and being released after serving 30 years of my sentence. I was very confused, weather I will be able to adapt to the totally new environment, and how I will survive in this ever changing world. I knew of know one and no place to go for shelter. My wife of three years would have married off, as I told her to find a better husband, as I will never be released from prison. And I wonder how my daughter and son be doing in this current time, and weather they were with my ex-wife or with some one else. The thought of it made me change my mind of being release. I asked for the prison chief and waited for him. Finally he arrived and I told him, that I wanted to carry on staying in the prison, as I had no one and no place to go to. As I had grown closer with him during my sentence, he told me not to give up hope and everyone needs a second chance. He also told me some one would be waiting for me out side the prison. But I told him there was no one I knew of and there was a mistake about it. But he just advised me to not give up hope and wished me all the best. There I was not wanting to get out and a friend advising me to join back to society. I had no choice, but to agree with him. I started cleaning up my cell and met up with my jail mate, they bid me fare well. Almost every one I knew of bided me farewell and wished for the best. As I walked through the clearance room, I was wondering the harsh reality of the outside world than again I wanted to see it before I die. So with two different thought, I entered the room. Once in, they called me by my number and read through my sentenced and told me to obey the rule of the law and not to commit crimes. They wished me for the best, and gave me my belongings. After changing to a new pair of cloth, I was ready to leave. There was two police to escort me to the exit of the prison. As they led me to the exit, I was totally unsure of the image of the out side world. Finally I reached the exit, the door opened and the sun was shining brightly and I could smell the fresh air as I walked out, I felt free like a bird out of a cage. Bang, I heard the door closed behind me. Now out side, the place had changed a lot after serving 30 years of my prison sentence. There was some kind of mechanism that ran on four wheels something that I haven’t seen before starting my sentence. This amazed me. There were people doing their daily activity. As I was walking, I noticed a group staring at me. There were two ladies and a man. One of the ladies looked quite old and the girl and the boy looked young. I guessed the older lady must be the mother of the two. As I carried on walking, they kept looking at me. I was thinking they must have been curious as I just got released from the prison and avoided their look as I walked. Finally I had just passed a foot in front of them, when I heard my name being called. “Suman” I felt strange, as I didn’t knew of any one else. As I turned behind to look who it was, I realized it was my ex-wife Kartika. Her eye was filled with tears as she cried. She asked me if I had forgotten them in all this years while crying. I tried to hold back my tears but I wasn’t able to. I told her I missed them dearly and gave her a kiss and hug her firmly. Then I heard “Dad” called by the other two. Kartika then told me that two, were our kids. I felt so happy that my kids had lived with my ex-wife. I kissed and hugged them. I than asked my ex-wife, how she was doing and how her new husband was doing. She waited a few second and with a gasp she told me she hadn’t married and raised the kids all by her self. Now my eye was filled with more tears and realized how strong she was, as she raised the kids all by herself. This time I hug her even tighter and my kids concealed us. After about some time, we finally left. In my mind, I was very happy and thanked god.

Life is like a road trip
Just like us, as we are growing up
Always concentrating our direction
Filling up the petrol
To keep growing
This is the way to our road trips
That never stops

Let us be thankful to what ever we have.
Cause it is different for the rest of the world.
Without effort and determination, we will not succeed
Cause cheaters only loose.
Let us be happy
Cause sadness will only bring sorrow.
And be thankful to the world
Cause without this world, we will not succeed.

Some say life is too short.
Some say life is too long.
If only it could be balanced.
Like they say life is good.
Like they say life is bad.
But without it,
Life won’t balance.
There is equal in every thing.
This is the way of life.

True Love
(07/12/06)

Like they say every rose has its throne, like every man has a woman. Well this is a story of a young man Suman Rai and his woman Rita. It started in a small town called Khotang in Nepal. It was the first day of college in the summer of 1998, Suman Rai 18years old first day of class. He was walking in the school premise, unfamiliar and totally new to him. Senior student totally stared at this newer student. Not only him, but there were other student too. And there was a whistling in one corner of the area. Out of curiosity, Suman tried to see what was happening. He couldn’t see the view, as other student blocked his sight. He approaches nearer to get a better view of the commotion. As he slightly pushed the front student to see what was going on, he saw a glimpse view of this person in front. He again pushed the front student. Now he had a better view of the person who was being whistled. Her face as sweet as honey, her eye as beautiful as ruby. Suman couldn’t take his eye of this beauty, he had never seen such beauty in his entire life. He was totally blown away and kept staring at her in a daze. He didn’t realize, he was in the middle of the path way. Other student had given way as this beauty was taking this path to her destination. Now he was blocking her, and she was approaching. Her path was blocked and asked him if he could give way. As Suman was in his fantasy and totally lost in reality, he didn’t respond. Now she was frustrated and pushed him hard. As he was pushed, Suman came back to reality. He was very embarrassed, as other student were jeering him. As she walked past him, he managed to slightly shout at her that he was sorry. She responded without turning, “whatever”. Now the jeering was even louder, and his face was so red that he bowed his head and continued his search for his class. He was walking at the ground floor and he came across his village friend, and asked him for the direction of his class. His friend obliged and showed him the direction. Now he got the direction of his class, he made his way to his class. Finally he approached his class. The class was full of student and the lecture had already begun. He asked the lecturer for permission and apologized for being late. The lecturer warned him not to be late again and asked him to proceed to his seat. As he faced the student, he could see some of their faces grinning. It could be because of the morning incident, he thought. He tried to avoid the look of their faces, and proceeded to find himself a seat. As the class packed, it was tough finding a seat. He saw an empty seat and proceeded to it, but the guy forbids him the seat. Now Suman was quite pissed of with him, so he looked for another seat. The same thing happened. Now he was wandering why this guys behaving oddly. His blood was boiling and he was about to quarrel back, when he heard a voice. It said, ”there is one seat vacant over here”. It was sweet and caring. He looked around to see who it was. To his surprise, it was the same girl that he saw in the morning. Now his face blushing to red, he slowly walked towards her seat. Now he realized why the other student didnt gave him their seat. In his mind he was thanking this other student. Now he was beside her. He pulled his courage to say Hi to her, but she didn’t respond. He pulled the chair and sat down while putting his bag on the floor. He thanked her in a soft voice, and introduced himself. She just nodded but didn’t reply back. He found her not sociable, so he just concentrated on the lecture. While the lecture was going on, he saw her name in the front of the book. It read Rita. He stole some glimpse on her. The more he spied on her, the more he liked her. Finally the lecture was over and it was time for their next class. As they had to go to another room, he took the courage to ask her if she was attending the next class. She replied yes and asked her if he could go with her as it was his first day of school. She nodded and they left together for the next class. While heading for the next class, she finally started to talk. She told him her name was Rita and she asked him his name. She even told him that she didn’t have much friend as she too just started school. Suman took the opportunity and told her that they could be friends since both of them were new in the school. They arrived for the class and the rest of the day was spent on lecture and tutorial. Finally class was over and they bid farewell and left for home. It was next day and Suman headed for class only to find Rita in the canteen alone. He took the courage to join her. She obliged and they both had their breakfast together. As 2 years of school was almost over, they had become best of friends. One day before the final examination, Suman proposed to her if she would like to go steady with her. She told him that he needs to wait, as she told him that she needs to concentrate on her University first. After their result, they headed for separate University and separate town, as both had a different faculty. But they promised that they would meet up after graduations.
Finally 4 years had gone by and Suman had a honors in Business. But he never forgets Rita. He longed to see her, and made a trip to her town. He searched for her every where, but couldn’t find her. But he never gave up.
Two years had gone by and he was working now in a Business firm company as a manager. He was a successful in his work, but there was always something lacking him. He dated other girls, but never came across any one like Rita. He always thought, “The first love is the deepest”. Any way he never gave up hope on her. He just continued his daily lifestyle. One fine day at work, he was invited for dinner at his boss home. At first he declined to go, but he was persuaded to go as it wouldn’t look good in the view of his employer. So he agreed to go. The day finally arrived and he gathered with his colleague to go to the employer house. They were greeted by their boss and they entered the house. It was large and beautifully decorated. Once inside, they helped them selves with the food and drinks. The place was big and there were a lot of guests. As Suman was having his meal and talking with the guest, he heard a familiar voice. He knew in his mind that he had heard this voice some where before. He excused himself from his guest and made his way to find this person. He approached nearer to where the voice was coming from. Now he was just behind her and excused her. As she turned, he saw that it was Rita after all. Thank god his search was over. He shouted with joy. She too recognizes him, and replied she missed him so much. They viewed back the times they missed together and alone. After which, as they say the rest is history.

Trapped (06/12/2006)

I couldn’t believe my eye. It was as though I was in dream land and I couldn’t control of it any more. I tried to escape but couldn’t. It was as though I was going to get stuck at this place forever. I tried and tried but it was no use. Finally I gave up and rested on the ground. As I was resting, I observed the cell. It was fully enclosed with an approximately 15 centimeter gap bar. The bar was thick. It was neither metal nor plastic. It was something different about the bar. Even the ground was sealed with bar. As I observed more, I realized there was no chance of escaping. I decided to sleep for a while to get fully energize. I was about to fall asleep, when I heard a familiar voice. Suman, Suman the voice said. I opened my eye to look for him, but couldn’t see him. So I shouted for him, and asked where he was. There was no reply for a moment. But there the voice came back again. I tried to find the direction of the sound. I frantically looked for him, but there was no sight of him. Then I heard his voice again, this time, I realized that he was shouting from a distance, as he mentioned where I was. I shouted back to give him the direction of my location by my audio signal. I realized he got the message as I could hear his voice nearing. Finally he arrived at my destination and asked me how I was trapped in this cell. I told him it was a long story and asked him to get me out of the cell first. At first he tried to use his strength to bend the bar, but it was no use. He than took out his machine gun and asked me to go to the corner. I made my way to the corner and he started to fire at the bar to break it. He shot a few round, until it cracked a bit. He observed it and continued firing to break it. Finally after around 20 round of shot, he managed to break 2 bar, just enough for me to get out. As the bar was hot from the firing, I waited for a minute to cool down. I than got out and thanked Martin, or else I would had starved to death. Now I was out, we decided to head back to camp.
VISIT
(05/12/2006)

Its been a while when some one came to visit me. I have been hospitalized for almost a month now due to my operation on my stomach for tumor. And there she is coming to visit me. She knocks on the door and I ask her to enter. She brings a plastic bag. I can tell that she has bought some fruits as it is transparent. It was apple and that was my favorite. Now lets go back to her. Her name is Suci, and she is my colleague from the same place we work at. She is from the office side, and I am from the store side. Well she is a caring lady, who is always ready to help in any possible way. That’s why we are very close friends since the day I joined the office. She comes in and ask me how I was doing. I reply by saying, “ Never felt better than now.” She places the fruit beside my bed and I ask her to take a seat, which was beside my bed. She sits down and ask me if I had my lunch. Which I replied by saying the food sucks over here. She tells me this is better if I want to recover fast. She sees the food on the table and get hold of it. She scoops a spoon full and blows it to simmer it a bit. And she asks me to open my mouth. I tried to resist as I have been sick of eating the tasteless food for almost a month. Then she replies by saying, a bowl of porridge a day, makes you better today. So obey the rules and get out of here. She convenience me and I opened my mouth, as she feeds me. After which I told her I will have it myself. But she insists that she will feed me. There was no point to argue, so I just obeyed her. While feeding me, she tells me how the other colleagues miss me at work and tells me that they have sent a message, for a Speedy Recovery for me. After which I tell her to pass my message too,” I misses them too”. In between Nurse Anna comes in for my medication. She tells Suci that her visit hour is almost over and it was time for my medicine. She hands me the medicine and Suci pours the water in the glass and passes to me. I insert the medicine in my mouth and drank the water. I swallowed the two together, and lay down on bed. Anna leaves the room, but reminds Suci to leave early, as the visiting time was over.
She prepares and tells me she was ready to leave. I thanked her for visiting me. And she made her way to the door and turns back to wave bye to me, and shouts to me for a “Speedy recovery”. I thanked her and waved back to her and tell her not to worry. She proceeds to leave the place and there once again I am lonely. But I knew that people cared and I was thankful to that.
Till then……..
Friendship(04/12/2006)

I was at the airport, waiting for my good friend Duk. He was supposed to arrive from America today. I anxiously looked around for him, as his plane had landed. And most of the passenger had alighted and were checking out of the airport. And I couldn’t even see a glimpse of him. He was supposed to arrive today, as he called me last night that he would be arriving today. Now here I am in the airport trying to locate him. Half an hour passed, and almost most of the passenger had already checked out. I got a little worried and decided to ask for help at the information counter. I asked the lady in charge if Duk had took the flight from America. She took some time to key in the information on the computer. Than she got back to me saying that he had checked in and should have arrived. So I asked the lady to air a message in the airport itself. She approved of it and made the announcement. It was aired for some time. After about 30 minute, I heard a husky voice calling me from behind. It sounded familiar, and knew it was Duk. I turned around to face him. It was him and I proceeded to shake hand with him. I told him times passes so fast, but friendship lasts. Then we proceeded leave the airport
Journey to maulo 29th November 2006

One day he was asked to meet his distance grandparents who lived some 20 km away. As it is his first time to visit his mother grandparents. He was very excited, as his mother used to tell him how her parents longed to see their grandson. He was only 3 years old when they saw him. So that night he prepared by preparing the dough for tomorrow cooking. As it would take around 3 days to reach his grandparents house, they have to carry food for the journey as the only transport was by walking because it was a mountainous region. Once he finished making the dough, he was partially drunk too. As it was winter, he had to drink alcohol to meet the harsh winter. It would heat up his body. As he had only one pair of cloth, which was only very thin to prevent the harsh winter. After all was set, he made sure every thing was spike and span and checked if his parents were in bed before he could tucked in. Finally after half an hour later, he was ready to bed himself. He lay on the tin mattress which was passing the cold from the floor to his body. He could feel the cold, but it didn’t affect his sleep as he had already gotten used to it. Now his mind was wondering the journey which he will be taking tomorrow. While imagining, he fell asleep peacefully. It was dawn and he got up from the sound of his parents shouting to him to get up. By the time he got up, his parents were ready to do the morning work. His dad had to get fresh grass for the herds and his mom to do the laundry of his baby sister. Now he was awake, he rushed to wash his face. It was chilly cold, but he poured the water on his palm and plashed it on his face. Now he was much fresher and was ready to cook. He quickly grabbed the firewood and stuffed it in the burner. He bled the charcoal to start fire the fresh wood. It took some time to start. Now it was very smoky, but it didn’t affected him due to normality. Once the fire was on rage, he prepared the wok and added the oil to heat it. After five minute, the oil was ready and he started by adding the dough to fry it. As it was cold, he had some alcohol and roti in between the cooking. . He was half way done, when his mom came in after her laundry and scolded him for not waking up late. He didn’t responded and carried on cooking. But he asked her to taste the roti for its texture. She said it was fine and went out the room to do her other chores After which his dad also arrived from attending the herds. He drank the alcohol and tasted the roti. And told him to rush, as the dawn was breaking. After half an hour later he finished with the cooking. He gently packed the roti in the bag, which he would be carrying. And filled two bottle of water and packed it in as well. After which, the wok was cooling down, he removed the wok from the stove and placed it beside and covered it. He sprinkled some water on the charcoal to extinguish the red burning. Now that he finished the cooking and the chores, he was ready to get dress up.While dressing, his parent were already ready and left the house shouting to him that they had left and asked him to hurry up. He rushed up and lifted the bag and exited the house. Now outside, he locked the door by padlocking. He started to walk in a fast pace to catch up with his parents. About 5 minute later, he saw the sight of his parent. He quickly followed them. Finally he was just behind them. They were having a casual chat while walking. As they walked, villagers asked where they were heading to. His dad would respond by saying, they were going to another village. It was noon and they were getting a bit hungry and his dad suggested that they stop for lunch. They found a nice shady spot to rest and have their dinner. After settling on the clean grass, Suman took out the roti and water. Than he distributed the food to his parents and himself. He had 4 roti and some drink. They had a casual talk of the family member of the maiti house. He asked a lot of question of who were in the family member, what he was supposed to call them as respect. Finally after some time, they decided to continue their journey. They came along a lot of places, Suman tried to capture the route, so that he can take this route in the future. While they were traveling, Suman dad saw a jackfruit tree and asked his son if he wanted to eat jackfruit. They all agreed and Suman dad looked at the tree to decide which fruit could be ripe. After deciding, his dad started to climb the tree. He finally reached the location, and used his left hand to twist free the fruit. Finally after around a minute, it came crashing down. Suman and his mom went to the site and picked it up and bought it out to a location where it was safer to pry open the jackfruit. While doing that, Suman dad descended his climb. While opening the jackfruit, the place was filled with aroma of the fruit. It was so strong that suman mouth was filled with water. His mom selected the seed and gave it to Suman. Than his dad arrived and ate the jackfruit. They had their fill and the rest they tried to stuff it in their bag, the rest they threw it away. As there was no place to stuff it in the bag. They started to continue their journey. It was around 5am, and it was getting dark. They decided to rest at one of the villager’s house. The house was open and the landlord was outside. His dad asked the landlord for a night stay and in exchange, he will pay Rs10 for the accommodation. For food they had to pay an extra Rs2. Since his dad had only Rs40 left, and they had one more night to travel and back after that. They had the roti, which Suman cooked. After that they had a early night so they can start their journey earlier. It was 5am in the morning and they left the house after paying the landlord. So this continued for another night. Finally the 3rd day came and they looked forward for the journey. It took them around 6 hours before lunch to reach their destination. Finally they arrived their destination and they were welcomed with open arms from his grandparents. Especially for Suman, he was being hugged and kissed from his elder. Finally they entered the house and lunch was served. This was Suman great experience he will never forget..
FRIENDSHIP (04/12/2006)

Its been 2 weeks and there is still no news from him yet. Yes I couldnt stand him any more. He should have been here by now. What is taking him so long….
Actually, 2 weeks ago I and Harka promised to meet up at the park in the outskirt of town. We had looted a Bank and we had gone our separate ways to escape the police. As far as I know, he too escaped the area, or else I would have read it in the paper or seen it on news. So I suspected that he might have ran away with the goods. In my mind, I knew he wouldn’t desert me. But some how, I couldn’t think of any thing else but that. Now it was almost 6pm and it was getting dark. I got very frustrated and kicked the dust bin pretending that it was him. Than I made my way back to the hotel. Couldn’t believe this was happening to me. As I had passed the park, I noticed some people behaving suspiciously. As there was other people in the park too, I managed to follow them around. As I passed the area, i saw police cars parked in the car park area. Than I realized that police had came and they were searching fro me. I coolly made my way out of the area like other park user did. While walking, I realized that Harka was caught and he had given the wrong information to the police. As we had agreed to meet up before 6 and if after that, it will be sabotage for the police. I felt guilty about what I had thought about him, the other day. I couldn’t think of any thing but him, but the friendship he had committed and proven. Like they say Friendship never dies. So here I am deciding what to do. If I ran away, he will face the consequences alone and if I surrender, we will face it together. So I had already made up my mind that I am going to surrender myself too. Cause that’s whats friends are for and will be. So here I am surrendering to the police. I know I did the right choice.

LIFE (30 NOVEMBER 2006)

What is life, this is a question which many of us know and don’t know. Many of us ask this question regularly in our every day life. But do we get a satisfying answer for our hungry question? No is the majority answer, to understand life, from my perspective is life is something we face in our daily life and beyond our capability. The things that revolves in our every day life, for example, the happiness, sadness and the extra ordinary things that we receive in our life package. It also comes with the good and the bad package to maintain the life form. Or else it would be too perfect world to live in, So this good and evil thing needs to be existed to consider life to be balanced. One such example is that, one day every body dies. But don’t know exactly when. Some will enjoy their ripe age while some will die in their early stage.
So cherish your life every minute, seconds of it till you leave this world. This is your life to be lived and be understood. We only live once, so make the best use out of it weather good or bad. That is life.

Escape
(28 November 2006)

This is a story that revolves around a group of friends. Namely Suman(Main Character.), Harka, Duk. Baburam, Surjay and etc. Well they were normal friends from a very young age. And abou them is an extraordinary story about an escape. Well let me start of the story. This group of guys used to hang out at coffee shop at Tai Seng coffeeshop. One fine sunny day they met up at the coffee shop after lunch. They ordered their drinks and started their conversation, the usual chat. While having their conversation, they wouldn’t miss the view of the opposite sex passing by. This was what they enjoyed most. After sometime, Suman suggested that they go to town to check out the places and hanging out. Not all agreed to this proposal. So the decider persisted the others to change their mind. Finally every one agreed to go. So they decided to meet up after one hour at the coffee shop. They than left the place and headed for home. As Suman reached his house, he saw his mom doing her usual chorus, he greeted her. Then he told her that he was going out and he needed some cash for the outing. She told him in an angry tone that she hadn’t much at home, and needed to buy some groceries for the night. Now Suman was devastated and now all his effort was going down the drain. So to keep up with the plan, he decided to call up his friend to ask for some loan. So he called Harka. He was about to explain to him about his situation, when he interrupted and told suman that he was broke. Now the situation was worse. So not to disappoint him, he told Harka that he had just enough for him self. But he told Harka he will ask some one else for help. So he hung up the phone. Then he decided to try his luck on Baburam. Hello the voice said. It was His mother. When he asked for Baburam, she told him that he had already left. Suman was now very pissed off. He called the rest and the response was the same for the rest. Now, no one to ask for help he decided to tell the truth to Harka. He called him up and learned that he too had left home. So now not knowing what to do, he decided to meet up with his friend to tell the truth. He left his hom
